A customer disputes the bill at the end of a long day, and you hear yourself give a discount just to end the conversation. Someone makes the same mistake twice, and you raise your voice in front of everyone. At eleven at night, the phone buzzes and you answer it. The next morning comes the regret. Your team has learned to read your mood the moment you walk in, and they've started saving the bad news for later.

THE SPREADSHEET

SOUND FAMILIAR?

Three situations this handbook solves

A customer disputes the bill at 7 p.m.

You check the thermometer: red. You say "I'll be back in five minutes to sort this out," breathe, and come back. Then you walk through the bill item by item. Same firmness, different tone.

A big decision, while you're in the red

You want to give the discount, or let someone go on the spot. The cool-down rule says how long to wait and who to consult first. Decisions about people always wait. "I'll get back to you tomorrow" becomes a normal sentence.

Your team just went through a hard case

Before the shift ends, you have the conversation after a hard case, check who needs a break, and rotate the heavy cases so the same two people don't carry all of them.

INSIDE

What you'll find in each tool

Five parts that go from you to your team. Take your own temperature: the four domains, a thermometer checked three times a day, and a trigger map. Handle the heat of the moment with breathing, reappraisal, and if-then plans. Deal with pressure, hot-headed decisions, and the signs of burnout. Read other people's emotions without guessing. Then shape the climate you set, with a monthly dashboard and a review in the third month.

Illustrative example with numbers: Hospital Veterinário Serra Imperial, a fictional 24-hour veterinary hospital. Dr. Heloísa, owner and surgeon, starts with her own thermometer. Anselmo coordinates the night shifts, and Valquíria runs the front desk, where frightened pet owners arrive and the bill gets settled.

Who it's for

It's for you if

  • You react in the heat of the moment and regret it the next day
  • You suspect your mood sets the mood of your whole team
  • You serve customers under stress: pain, loss, urgency, or grief
  • You want to spot your team's fatigue before it turns into errors or departures
  • You take work home in your head and come back tired

It's not for you if

  • You're looking for treatment for anxiety, depression, or burnout. That calls for a doctor or a psychologist
  • You want scripts for difficult conversations and feedback. See The Feedback and Difficult Conversations Handbook
  • You want methods for business decisions. That's The Decision-Making Handbook
  • You want to stay calm all the time. The handbook teaches you to notice the emotion and choose your response, not to stop feeling it

Frequently asked questions

Can you really learn emotional intelligence as an adult?

Yes. Temperament changes little, but the way you notice and respond to emotion can be trained with tracking and practice. That's why the handbook starts with a thermometer, not a pep talk.

Is this therapy?

No. It's a management handbook. It doesn't treat anxiety, depression, or burnout. If the signs last for weeks, see a doctor or a psychologist. In a crisis, contact the emergency or emotional support service in your country.

What if I don't get angry, just discouraged?

The method works for every color on the thermometer. Discouragement shows up as blue, and the trigger map shows you what sets it off.

Can I require my team to always be in a good mood?

No, and trying makes the climate worse. You can ask for respect and care with customers. Mood is something you look after, with breaks, rotation, and conversation.

Does this work outside of healthcare?

Yes. The example is a veterinary hospital, but every tool shows how it applies to services, retail and commerce, manufacturing and distribution, and independent professionals. Swap the front desk for your counter, your shop floor, or your phone.

How long does it take?

About 2 hours and 24 minutes of reading, or 6 minutes per tool, plus the exercises. The 30-day plan gets you started, and the review in the third month shows what changed in your own numbers.

What do I get, and in what formats?

Each handbook is a PDF of about 100 pages with 24 to 27 tools. Every tool has step-by-step instructions and a worked example. You also get the handbook's spreadsheet in Excel (.xlsx), which opens in Google Sheets too, with the example already filled in. The message, policy, and clause templates are in the Template Kit inside the PDF, ready to copy and adapt. Read it in the member area or download the files.

How do I know if it fits my business?

Each handbook's page shows the problem it solves, who it is for and who it is not for, the full table of contents, sample pages, and the company used in the examples. The examples come from small businesses in several industries, with illustrative numbers. If it is not a fit, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of your purchase, as described in the Refund Policy.

What is the difference between a handbook, an area set, and the Series?

A handbook solves one problem. An area set brings together every handbook and spreadsheet in one of the 6 areas, for less than the price of 5 single handbooks. The Consylion Handbook Series brings together all 100 handbooks and 100 spreadsheets, for less than the price of 8 single handbooks, and includes the next handbooks in the Series. Products outside the Series, from Consylion Life or Consylion Business, have their own price. They are sold separately and are not part of an area set or the Series.

Do I need to read everything before I start?

No. Each tool works on its own. Open the table of contents, pick the tool for today's problem, and start there. You can also read it cover to cover.

Do I need to know Excel?

The basics are enough: open the file and fill in the marked fields. The formulas are already built, and the handbook's example is filled in for reference.

How do I pay, and when do I get access?

By card or bank transfer, as a one-time payment with no subscription. Once your payment is confirmed, you get access to the member area by email. Approved card payments are confirmed right away. Bank transfers are confirmed when the funds clear. If access does not arrive within 24 hours of confirmation, check your spam folder and write to team@consylion.org.

How long do I have access, and how can I use the files?

Access does not expire, and you can download the files for offline use. The license is individual. You may read the handbooks, print them for your own use, and fill in and adapt the spreadsheet and templates with your company's data. If you are a consultant, accountant, or manager, you may apply the tools with your clients and deliver the result of your work, not the files. You may not share, resell, or distribute the files or the access.

How do support and refunds work?

Support is by email at team@consylion.org, on business days, with a reply within 5 business days. It covers questions about access, files, and payment. It does not include consulting or advice on applying the material to your case. You can cancel within 14 days of your purchase, without giving a reason, and get the full amount back through the payment method you used. Send the request to the same email. The details are in the Refund Policy.

Keep feeling it. Stop deciding in it.

You'll still get angry. Customers will still dispute the bill, and the phone will still ring at night. This handbook gives you the tools, the spreadsheet, and the templates to notice the heat in time, choose your response, and take care of the mood you bring into the room. The feelings are yours. So are the decisions.
