The Process Handbook

SOPs So Your Business Runs without You

You can't miss a single day without the business stalling. Your team isn't the problem.

24 tools, one-page SOPs, a spreadsheet, and one example restaurant worked through from start to finish, so the right way to do each task lives on paper instead of in your head.

You get 24 tools to map your processes, write each standard on one page, roll it out with your team, measure time, errors, and cost, and hand every process to an owner. Plus the Process spreadsheet, already filled in with the example.

You're out sick for one day. By lunch your phone hasn't stopped ringing. Where's the key to the storeroom? Does the big order go out today? Can I give this customer a discount? Everyone on your team does the job a little differently, new hires learn by watching whoever's around, and the same mistake shows up again on Friday. You hired good people. You're still the manual they all have to consult.

THE SPREADSHEET

Use the completed example as a reference and enter your business data in the marked fields. Check the instructions and the calculations before you make a decision.

SOUND FAMILIAR?

Three situations this handbook solves

A new hire starts on Monday

Instead of telling them to watch whoever's on shift, you hand them the one-page SOP and the checklist for their station. The skills matrix shows who trains them and which task they learn next.

The same mistake shows up again

You stop giving the speech about paying attention. You sort last month's errors by type, find the step where each one starts, and change the workstation so that mistake gets hard to make.

You're booking a week away

Four weeks out, you fill in the week-away worksheet: who's in charge, which emergencies justify a call, and the dollar limits on the escalation ladder. Then you take one rehearsal day off before the full week.

INSIDE

What you'll find in each tool

Five parts, in the order you'll use them. See every process in the business on one page and pick the first one to hand off. Write the standard: the one-page SOP, the checklist, the right-way photo. Put it to work with your team. Measure time, errors, and cost. Then give each process an owner and test it all with a week away. Every tool has a step by step, a worked example, and a short exercise.

Who it's for

It's for you if

  • You can't take a day off without the business slowing down or your phone ringing all day
  • You explain the same task every week and watch the same mistake come back anyway
  • You have a manager or a lead and want them to make decisions without calling you first
  • Your new hires learn by watching, and every one of them ends up doing the job a different way
  • You want to book a real week away, with the phone put away

It's not for you if

  • You want to hire, train, and evaluate people. That's The People Management Handbook
  • You want Ishikawa, Pareto, and 5S in depth. Start with The Quality Tools Handbook
  • You want help choosing or setting up software. This handbook simplifies the process first and doesn't teach any specific tool
  • You expect a business that runs itself by next month. This handbook shows the path, one process at a time

Frequently asked questions

Is my business too small for SOPs?

No. With two people you already have tasks that repeat and mistakes that come back. The example is a restaurant, but every tool shows how it applies to services, retail, manufacturing and distribution, and independent professionals. Start with just one process, the one that ties you down most.

Do I need software or a system for this?

Not to get started. Paper at the workstation, a folder, and the included spreadsheet are enough. The handbook has a whole tool on simplifying a process before you automate it, because automating a bad process only makes mistakes faster.

How long does it take to write an SOP?

About an hour for the draft, written at the workstation with the person who does the task, and then a week of testing with the team. The one-page SOP template in the Template kit gives you the structure, so you're not starting from a blank page.

What if my team doesn't follow the standard?

The handbook covers that in Part 3. You build the SOP with the people who do the work, check it on a weekly standards walk, and find out why a step gets skipped before you hold anyone to it. Usually it's the peak hour or the layout of the workstation, not the person.

Do I need ISO certification or a background in quality management?

No. It's written for beginners and borrows the logic of quality standards without the certification, which is only worth it when a large customer asks for it. About 2 hours and 24 minutes of reading, or 6 minutes per tool, plus the exercises. The 30-day plan takes your first process through one stage per week.

What do I get, and in what formats?

Each handbook is a PDF of about 100 pages with 24 to 27 tools. Every tool has step-by-step instructions and a worked example. You also get the handbook's spreadsheet in Excel (.xlsx), which opens in Google Sheets too, with the example already filled in. The message, policy, and clause templates are in the Template Kit inside the PDF, ready to copy and adapt. Read it in the member area or download the files.

How do I know if it fits my business?

Each handbook's page shows the problem it solves, who it is for and who it is not for, the full table of contents, sample pages, and the company used in the examples. The examples come from small businesses in several industries, with illustrative numbers. If it is not a fit, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of your purchase, as described in the Refund Policy.

What is the difference between a handbook, an area set, and the Series?

A handbook solves one problem. An area set brings together every handbook and spreadsheet in one of the 6 areas, for less than the price of 5 single handbooks. The Consylion Handbook Series brings together all 100 handbooks and 100 spreadsheets, for less than the price of 8 single handbooks, and includes the next handbooks in the Series. Products outside the Series, from Consylion Life or Consylion Business, have their own price. They are sold separately and are not part of an area set or the Series.

Do I need to read everything before I start?

No. Each tool works on its own. Open the table of contents, pick the tool for today's problem, and start there. You can also read it cover to cover.

Do I need to know Excel?

The basics are enough: open the file and fill in the marked fields. The formulas are already built, and the handbook's example is filled in for reference.

How do I pay, and when do I get access?

By card or bank transfer, as a one-time payment with no subscription. Once your payment is confirmed, you get access to the member area by email. Approved card payments are confirmed right away. Bank transfers are confirmed when the funds clear. If access does not arrive within 24 hours of confirmation, check your spam folder and write to team@consylion.org.

How long do I have access, and how can I use the files?

Access does not expire, and you can download the files for offline use. The license is individual. You may read the handbooks, print them for your own use, and fill in and adapt the spreadsheet and templates with your company's data. If you are a consultant, accountant, or manager, you may apply the tools with your clients and deliver the result of your work, not the files. You may not share, resell, or distribute the files or the access.

How do support and refunds work?

Support is by email at team@consylion.org, on business days, with a reply within 5 business days. It covers questions about access, files, and payment. It does not include consulting or advice on applying the material to your case. You can cancel within 14 days of your purchase, without giving a reason, and get the full amount back through the payment method you used. Send the request to the same email. The details are in the Refund Policy.
